Reiki

WHAT IS REIKI?

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”  This Universal Life Force Energy is also known around the world as "Divine Light", "Prana", "Chi" and "Life Force".  The Usai System of natural healing, Reiki, is an ancient healing modality that was re-discovered by Dr Mikao Usui around the end of the 19th century.  It dates back thousands of years to Atlantis, ancient Tibet, originally coming from the stars, dating all the way back to the beginning of time, the creation.

Reiki will stimulate the body's own natural healing abilities in the following ways:

  • Mental Level - Reiki will ease stress, fear and depression
  • Physical Level - Reiki will relieve aches and pains
  • Emotional Level - Reiki will bring balance and promote personal development
  • Spiritual Level - Reiki helps to bring peace and spiritual growth

Reiki is not a belief system, a cult or a religion.  It simply increases and expands your awareness of yourself.  It is the tool that helps you become more of who you truly are, it gives you belief in yourself and diminishes self doubt.

HOW DOES REIKI WORK?

Throughout a day we experience a number of emotions and feelings and for the majority of us we have no tools to process what we feel whether it be a positive or a negative feeling.  If we do not process or release these imbalances they will be stored within us and over time will become a poison to us eventually manifesting into illness or dis-ease. As we become more aware of our emotional self we will limit our negative self talk and realise we can make different choices concerning our emotions and feelings.

Everything within this Universe is energy, constantly moving.  If energy becomes blocked or stagnant it is not fulfilling its purpose. The same works for us, if the energy within us becomes blocked or stagnant it will manifest into illness or disease. This is the body's way of telling us that we need to off load these blockages and restore harmony and balance to ourselves.

HOW DOES REIKI HELP US?

Reiki helps us to clear and release any stagnant, emotional or negative energy we may be storing in our bodies.  It will help to balance and move energy through us, allowing us to feel lighter, flowing with life and not struggling.

Reiki treats the whole person including your body, your mind, your emotions and your spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Rekei helps to unload stored imbalances that make us feel at odds with ourselves. Reiki is the tool that provides you with an opportunity to focus on feeling balanced, peaceful, creative and happy.

THE REIKI HEALING TREATMENT

A Reiki treatment is a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.  It is completely safe and you will remain fully clothed throughout the treatment. The healer places their hands on the body and guides you to open your energy centres.  There will be calm music playing as you relax in peaceful and private surroundings allowing you to let go and feel a greater sense of inner strength and wellbeing.

The experience of Reiki is subjective, changeable, and sometimes very subtle. People often experience heat in the practitioner's hands, but sometimes the practitioner's hands feel refreshingly cool. Other common experiences are subtle pulsations where the practitioner's hands are placed or cascading waves of pulsations throughout the body.

People often comment how comforting they find the experience of Reiki to be.  An interesting study reported that recipients frequently feel that they are hovering in a threshold state of consciousness, simultaneously aware of their surroundings and deeply indrawn. Some people fall into a deep, sleeplike meditative state. Sometimes the experience of Reiki is dramatic, while for other people, the first session in particular may be uneventful, although they feel somehow better afterward. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.

Reiki is cumulative and even people who don't notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue.  Besides the immediate experience of the Reiki, you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive, and sleeping deeply that night.

Reiki can also be incorporated into a massage wh
ich provides tremendous physical and emotional benefits; you will be amazed at how relaxed, revitalised and refreshed you will feel after your treatment.
